Kindergarten No.10 “Slantchitze” and the social services complex have new heating systems that are provided under a project of Dobrich Municipality, implemented by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2009-2014. The total project cost is BGN 415,000 - a 100% grant. Partner of Dobrich Municipality in the project implementation is Norsk Energy - Oslo, Norway – an organization with 100 years of experience participating in expert exchange, advisory services and training. Today the new heating installations were officially opened with a Dobrudja style greeting by the students from Secondary school "St. Kliment Ohridski" and by the Mayor of Dobrich Yordan Yordanov, who said that it is good when we talk about the European funding, but it is even better when it comes to adequate and timely absorption of EU funds. The Mayor added this is something really positive for their city and congratulated the team having realized the project. "I hope that in the next months and years to see even faster and more adequate spending of EU funds at local level, regardless of the situation at national level and in Europe, this money must reach people adequately", Mayor Yordan Yordanov said. The results achieved are associated with improved comfort of occupation of the buildings, reduced budget costs for heating and electricity, minimized expenses for operational maintenance of the facilities and increased awareness about the benefits of applying energy efficiency measures. Through the implementation of such projects Dobrich Municipality fulfills its commitments to the European initiative - the Covenant of Mayors, which aims by 2020 to enhance energy efficiency by 20%, to increase the share of renewable energy by 20% and to reduce energy consumption by 20%. Dobrich Municipality will continue to pursue a sustainable energy policy.
